Summer swim team is a one-of-a-kind six-week experience for swimmers ages 5-18 to learn competitive stroke in a fun, social environment.  Swimmers learn freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, competing over five regular-season swim meets and one championship meet to conclude the season.

Cardinal swim coaches guide each practice and stroke education for each swimmer, offering nine practices per week.  Throughout the swim season, social opportunities for both swimmers and families increase the fun-factor of the team.

Come see what the Cardinal Swim Team is about!

2020 Preseason Swim:

Preseason swim sessions are an opportunity for the swimmers to begin preparing for the summer season, including a chance to start rebuilding their summer swim friendships.  These sessions also give the coaches an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the swimmer abilities and start planning the summer swim training program.  There is a heavy focus on stroke development during these sessions, instead of distance.  However, because of the depth of the pool we will be using this year, it’s important we only have swimmers who can complete one length of the pool.  Development swim for those still needing assistance in building that endurance will start later, with future communications coming on that program.

We will have limited lanes and resources, so please RSVP whenever possible through the sign-up genius, so we have a headcount for attendance.

The cost is $10/swimmer for each session they attend.  If you have more than 2 swimmers, it’s an extra $5/swimmer.  If you plan to attend all 10 sessions, you can pay $90 up front for each swimmer.  If you have more than 2 swimmers, it’s only$45/extra swimmer to pay up front for the whole preseason.

Preseason payments cannot be bank drafted, so please bring cash to the practices.  If paying for the entire preseason, check is preferred and can be made out to “Cardinal Swim and Tennis Club”.

Head Coach: Christina Shult Rogers

Dear Cardinal Nation,

I’m so excited for this opportunity to join in the fun with the Cardinal swim team!  I can’t wait to meet the swimmers, their families, and get in the pool!  The sport of swimming has brought me so much joy and led to many friendships with incredible people.  I strive to share my swimming passion with the Cardinal.  City meet 2020 will be my 20th Greensboro city meet as a swim parent; I have such fond memories of the pageantry, the racing, and the fun times!  Two of my children were Golden Swimmers (twice each), yet I think one of my favorite memories was when my 6-year-old Jonathan got 16th at city meet in backstroke and was psyched that his ribbon was black!

Looking at our 2020 season, my goal is to lead the Cardinal to be the best team we can be!  We will race, train, celebrate, and grow together as a team!  This team is a special community with the assistant coaching staff having grown up on the swim team.  I am excited to be offered a chance to join in the Cardinal tradition.

Currently, I am teaching first grade at Summerfield Elementary during the school year. In addition, I am a swim instructor at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. I teach “learn-to-swim” lessons for both adults and children, GAC Waves, and Adaptive Lessons for children with special needs.

I have 8 years of elementary teaching experience and over 20 years of experience coaching swimming in NC and TX.   I am ASCA Level 3 certified and led swimmers to success at the NC Junior Olympics, Age Group Sectionals, NC Senior Champs, Senior Sectionals, and American Short Course Champs.  I’ve enjoyed watching swimmers I coach continue to develop and compete at such colleges as Stanford, Texas, Clemson, UNC, Duke, NC State, UNCW, Florida State, George Washington, Johns Hopkins, Gardner-Webb, Davidson, East Carolina, University of South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Columbia, Campbell, Cornell,  Georgia Tech, Virginia, Auburn, and Alabama.

Away from the pool, I cheer for my alma mater University of Texas and Duke University (where my 2 older sons graduated.)  I love to be outside, either walking my French bulldog Myrtille or hanging out at our firepit.  I still swim; I swam the 12 Days of Christmas, 13 workouts in January, and I’m going for 14 in February.
